Antique Indigo Egasuri Cotton, Chrysanthemum and Paulownia

A rare and collectible indigo Egasuri cotton piece from the early to mid-20th century.

Kasuri is the Japanese term for ikat, and e means picture or drawing, together, egasuri refers to pictorial designs created using the kasuri weaving technique.

This piece features two chrysanthemums and a paulownia motif with vertical stripes. One side shows some fading from use, while the reverse, originally the inside, is darker. The fabric has become very fine and soft over time due to use. It is in good pre-loved condition overall, with a small hole shown in the last photo.
