Japanese Textiles: A Living Aesthetic of Traditional Handiwork
This is a catalogue of an exhibition curated by the Institute for the Study of Japanese Folk Culture and the Yokohama History Museum, published in July 2021.
The first part contains a great collection of Kogin stitching from the Tohoku region, Ainu patterns, indigo Katazome dye on hemp, Sakaori, and Boro. The second part details various old textiles, such as ramie, glass fibres, papers, and Bashofu (banana fibre cloth).
