Vintage Taiten Shibori Cotton Sold By The Metre

A vintage shibori cotton fabric roll for summer kimono 'yukata' from the mid-20th century. This unique type of shibori, called Taiten, features a small geometric pattern. During the weaving process, slightly thicker warp threads are incorporated at regular intervals as support threads for tying. By tightening these threads, the pattern emerges. Once the threads are removed after dyeing, small characteristic holes remain in the fabric.
