Vintage Silk Shibori Piece

A rare and unique silk piece, with half done in shibori and the other half left plain. This piece was originally intended for the collar of a women's haori. It’s still unfinished, the next step would be steam ironing the shibori part, folding it into fourths, and sewing it into the collar.

The motif is round-shaped chrysanthemums called 'kouringiku,' which are based on the chrysanthemums of the famous Edo period artist Kourin Ogata.

You could keep the texture as is, lightly iron it to make it slightly flatter while maintaining the texture, or use it as fabric or a scarf.
