Antique Indigo Katazome Cotton Crane and Tortoise
An antique indigo katazome stencil-dyed cotton piece from the early 20th century, featuring auspicious symbols of longevity, the crane and tortoise, along with the traditional Sho-chiku-bai trio, pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms. Originally part of a futon cover, this rare textile is double-sided, with the same intricate pattern dyed on both sides, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
In good vintage condition with gentle fading, a couple of mended patches, and some small holes along the selvedge. A highly collectible example of Japanese folk textile art.
