Antique Indigo Katazome Hemp Futon Cover Panel

An antique indigo katazome hemp panel from a traditional Japanese futon cover, dating to the early 20th century. The design features stylised 'aoi' hollyhock leaves flowing along 'yoroke' wavy stripes, hand-applied using the katazome resist-dyeing technique.

Handwoven from hemp, this textile has a crisp yet supple handle and a beautifully textured surface softened through decades of use. A rare and decorative textile, ideal for collectors, display, or textile art. 

Good antique condition with expected signs of age, including a few small mended patches and minor wear.
