Vintage Red & Black Geometric Meisen Silk Kimono Fabric
A vintage Meisen silk kimono fabric piece from the mid-20th century, taken from an undone kimono. It features bold geometric blocks in vivid red and black against an ivory ground. The blurred edges characteristic of Meisen weaving give the simple geometric pattern a distinctive graphic quality. The fabric is lightweight with a smooth, slightly crisp handle.
Each patterned block measures approximately 32cm in length. The sleeve sections feature three patterned blocks, while the bodice sections feature four to five blocks.
There are scattered stains and discolouration throughout the ivory ground, as shown in the photos. Despite these marks, the fabric remains a beautiful and unusual example of vintage Meisen silks. Available in two lengths.
