Vintage Indigo Boro Fragment

A piece of vintage Japanese indigo cotton with a large hand-stitched patch, originally part of a futon cover.

The lightweight cotton is soft from years of use, with fading, holes and other signs of wear. The contrasting indigo patch and visible stitching are a good example of boro, reflecting the traditional practice of repairing and extending the life of cloth.

It can be used as material for sewing, or mending projects, or simply hung and enjoyed as an old textile.
