Antique Large Indigo Sashiko Cotton Furoshiki
A five-panel large indigo-dyed 'furoshiki' from the early 20th century. This piece features traditional reinforced 'sashiko' stitching on the corners with three different designs: 'asanoha' (hemp leaf), 'sayagata' (interlocking 'manji,' an ancient Buddhist symbol), and folding fans. This large furoshiki was used to wrap small furniture for carrying or travel. It has been well-used, with the centre experiencing more wear, resulting in beautiful mending.
