Vintage Zanshiori Silk Futon Cover
A vintage three-panel piece of zanshiori silk, dating to the mid-20th century. This piece features a beautiful check pattern in warm beige and brown tones. Zanshi weaving, traditionally done with leftover threads, creates a rich, irregular design and texture. while usually seen in cotton futon covers, this silk version is unusual and rare.
The cloth is hand-loomed and shows signs of its past life, with a small hole and a couple of mended patches using indigo cotton. It is in good vintage condition and would make a beautiful wall hanging, or could be incorporated into quilting or textile projects.
