Vintage Natural Dye Hand-Spun Tsumugi Silk Kimono Fabric

A vintage Japanese tsumugi silk kimono fabric woven with hand-spun silk threads and naturally dyed with safflower.

The fabric has a warm coral-orange tone, with subtle variations in colour and texture that reflect the character of the hand-spun yarn. Fine slubs and irregularities are visible throughout the weave, giving the plain fabric depth and a beautiful natural surface.

Medium weight with a soft handle and a gentle natural sheen, this understated tsumugi is suitable for clothing, accessories, patchwork and a wide range of sewing projects.

This is an unused vintage kimono fabric roll and is sold by the metre.
