Vintage Undyed Natural Hemp Kimono Fabric - Approx. 5m
A beautiful length of vintage Japanese natural hemp fabric, dating from approximately the early to mid-20th century and originally woven for kimono.
Undyed in a soft natural ivory tone, the fabric has a fine, lightweight weave with a smooth, almost silky feel. Subtle variations in the threads give the cloth a lovely texture while retaining a simple, understated appearance.
Its natural colour and fine weave make it particularly suitable for dyeing, as well as sewing, patchwork and textile projects. It would also be ideal for Korean-style pojagi patchwork or a translucent hanging, where the lightness and texture of the weave can be appreciated.
The fabric is approximately 5 metres long and remains as one continuous piece. There is some staining along part of the selvedge and a few small age spots. One end, approximately 30cm, has more noticeable staining, as shown in the last photo. Overall, it is in good vintage condition considering its age.
